About Monash University Bookshop

The Bookshop is:

  • A resource which supports the formal teaching and research activities of the University
  • A business which applies to the service of the University and wider community technologies, systems and supply lines developed for the support of the formal activities of the University
  • A shop window in which visitors can see some of the interests and activities of Monash people

Monash University Bookshop was established in 1965. It was governed by a Board, which was constituted as a committee advising the Vice-Chancellor, who provided a loan of $100,000 as initial capital.

Monash University Bookshop

The theme of quality bookselling expressed through a broad inventory and personal service was established early, and it remains the primary goal of the business. Today, our expanded bookshop is a Monash University landmark on many campuses and a destination for visitors from all over the world. We provide a comprehensive and provocative selection of new, used and remaindered books. As one of the few bookshops in the nation with an academic emphasis, we feature authoritative sections in fiction, cultural and critical theory, cognitive science, information technology, management, and medicine. We also feature the ability to special order books not available in our store. This web site is our latest effort to make our selection and services available to book-lovers around the world.

In 2003, our 38th year of business, Monash University Bookshop's excellence in bookselling was recognized nationally when our Clayton bookshop was awarded Tertiary Bookseller of the Year.
